The Best Instant BBQ Ribs Recipe

Today I spend all day fantasizing about tender bone pork ribs, smeared in a spicy whiskey BBQ sauce , combined with a little creamy coleslaw. As you all know, my dreams (when they involve food) are always achievable. I decided to put these pork ribs in my Instant Pot to speed up the process and I’m glad I did because I didn’t have to wait long before digging.

I usually refrain from making ribs at home, they just take too long after a full day of work. But not anymore! Its reliable Instant Pot will develop a lot of flavor and cut your cooking time in half. I smeared these fleshy treats on a homemade whiskey barbecue sauce that had just the right amount of kick after rubbing them with a beautiful massage. Enough chatting, let’s have barbecues!

ingredients needed to make ribs in the instant pot.

Ribs

  • Pork ribs are what we are using today. About 2 racks are worth.
  • Apple juice – We need some liquid in our pressure cooker to make sure it really works. Don’t worry about the juice washing your dry massage!
  • Apple Cider Vinegar

  • – We need some flavor and apple cider vinegar is best for it. It will also chemically soften your meat while cooking. If white vinegar is all you have, it’s more than fine as a substitute.
  • Liquid smoke – This ingredient is optional if you can’t find any in your supermarket, but I definitely recommend it in terms of achieving that smoky flavor that all good barbecues have.

Dry Rub

  • Sugar – We want to make sure our massage has a little sweetness, and that complex molasses flavor we get from brown sugar is what we want most.
  • Seasoning – Salt and pepper! Tasty and rubbed well.
  • Spices – Dried mustard, onion powder, cumin, smoked paprika, garlic powder and cayenne pepper all well mixed. These ingredients are key to achieving our delicious taste, so do your best to hunt them!

–

  • We’re using a store-bought sauce as a base, any type will do what we’re going to improve!
  • Ketchup – A little sweetness, some sourness, simple ketchup is perfect for a BBQ sauce of pork ribs.
  • whisky- The star of this sauce will offer a beautiful depth and notes of vanilla. Any type will, so don’t worry about picking up anything that’s too fancy.
  • Brown Sugar – We want to bring that sweet molasses flavor through our entire barbecued pork rib recipe.
  • Worcestershire Sauce – This will give our ribs a tasty umami flavor.
  • Liquid smoke – Since we’re not actually smoking these ribs, we want to make sure that the fake smoke flavor is incorporated at every step.

Cook The Ribs

Before starting anything, you must first prepare the ribs by removing the rib membrane. Next, you’ll want to combine all the dry ingredients and generously rub this into the ribs of your baby’s back.

Place the seasoned ribs in the Instant Pot, standing and wrapping the inside of the pot. Pour in the apple juice, apple cider vinegar and liquid smoke, then close the Instant Pot. You’ll want to pressure cook them in the meat/stew setup for 20 minutes. If your IP does not have this setting, simply use the Manual settings for the same period of time. Once completed, wait until the natural release cycle is complete, it should take about 15 minutes.

Make The Barbecue Sauce

While the ribs are cooking, you can start with the BBQ sauce. All you have to do is add all the ingredients of the BBQ sauce to a small saucepan, stir to combine and simmer for about 20 minutes. The sauce should be reduced a little.

Carefully remove the ribs from the instant pot and place them on a baking sheet. Brush them generously with the BBQ sauce prepared on both sides and place them under the grill for about 5 minutes. Keep your oven door open while roasting ribs and keep an eye on them, as they could burn quickly. Serve with extra BBQ sauce and enjoy!

If stored properly in an airtight container or hermetically wrapped in aluminum foil, these ribs will last 3 to 4 days in the fridge. You can also freeze this recipe, for 2 – 3 months wrapped tightly in aluminum foil before thawing in the microwave or cold water. Reheat in the oven and spread in sauce.
