Slow Cooker Brisket – Life is But a Dish
The most delicious and crumbling breast that can be easily made in the slow cooker or instant cooker!
I have a confession
.
I don’t really eat red meat. There I said it. Are we still friends?
Not that I have anything against it. I’m not a vegetarian, I eat chicken, turkey and fish. It’s just that red meat usually doesn’t appeal to me. I prefer to eat a piece of chicken or fish any day. I’ve never ordered a steak at a restaurant, and I would choose a turkey burger or a veggie burger at a barbecue. It’s just not my thing.
But I really WANT to like it! I always try it! My husband is a great carnivore, as are my children and family. So, I keep trying to court myself.
Guess what? I think I’ve finally done it!
BOYS

This is the first time I have tasted meat and I never wanted to stop eating it. It’s the first time I’ve really understood the GMO face of a true, tough carnivore taking their first bite of a juicy steak, or the perfect short rib, or in this case, the perfect breast. It’s that good. The combination of spices, low spicy and cooked sauce and sloooooooooow, (or cooked at pleasant and fast pressure), makes this a melted breast in your mouth that is sure to please your taste buds. My kids even gobble this up!
See how to
do it

I love using my slow cooker. Seriously, it makes the best meals with minimal preparation and easy cleaning. Here is the slow cooker I use. However, I’m also a big fan of using the Instant Pot, especially when I don’t plan ahead.

instructions
PRO TIP: Add the massage to the breast the night before and let it sit in the fridge overnight. This helps the meat absorb all that flavor and makes the meat taste super delicious.

the broth in a bowl
It is important to cook the breast low and slow if you have time. Which means little heat for a long period of time, like 8 hours! The longer, the better. Cooking it this way helps to gradually begin to dissolve the hard connective tissues found throughout the meat. If not cooked enough, the breast will be hard and difficult to chew.

Once you have finished cooking, let it rest while you prepare the sauce.
At this point, if you choose to reduce or thicken the sauce, you can do it directly in the slow cooker. Simply beat the arrowroot powder and cold water into a small bowl to create a suspension. Pour the suspension into the liquid in the slow cooker and whisk. The liquid will begin to thicken after 2-3 minutes.
Pour it over the sliced breast and enjoy!
Feel free to add some potatoes and carrots to the slow cooker while cooking. We also love serving this with roasted potatoes with garlic and green beans.
