During the years I had intestinal problems, I was bean-free and sometimes nightshade-free with my chili. In fact, sometimes I still do this.

Sometimes I feel my Instant Pot Pumpkin Chili or my Pumpkin Chicken Chili,

while other times I feel a bit of Crock Pot White Chicken Chili, or my Best Steak Chili Recipe

.

Well, I can safely say that this turkey chili with black beans is a remarkable meal, worthy of repeating.

Use simple ingredients, with a pair you wouldn’t normally think of using that level for experience.

All in all, this chili recipe is gluten-free, high in protein, a good source of complex carbohydrates, low in fat and macro-friendly.

Ideal for active people who pay attention to their macros or simply for anyone who enjoys a hearty meal.

Ingredients for

turkey chili:

onion, garlic, turkey, crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, cocoa powder, chili powder, pure maple syrup, bell pepper, carrots and black beans.

Ingredients you may be less familiar with in chili pepper are cocoa powder and pure maple syrup. Cocoa powder adds richness to the chili (it doesn’t taste like chocolate, don’t worry), and pure maple syrup adds a very subtle sweetness to compensate for the acidity of tomatoes.

I find that a generous amount of chili powder is more than adequate to flavor the soup. Some people like to add extra herbs and spices, which is also delicious.

In order to keep the ingredient list reasonably short, and for the sake of simplicity, we’ll get it right with

chili powder!

Chili powder is a mixture of ground cumin, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika and dried oregano, and sometimes cayenne pepper. If you prefer to make your own blend based on the portion of each one you enjoy, feel free to do so or prepare this homemade chili powder recipe from Spend With Pennies.
