I think most of us have some tried and true Crockpot chicken recipes on hand. Those in which you add all the ingredients, and at the end of the day, you have a delicious meal, like tender chicken in a tasty sauce.

Crockpot recipes take time and planning, and I don’t always have a lot of time (and I don’t always plan well 🙈). While cramming everything into the Crockpot should be simple, it’s not always.

That’s why I’ve followed the steps to turn a slow cooker meal into a pressure cooker meal and transformed this family favorite into a chicken and pressure cooker sauce recipe. The Instant Pot

allows for last-minute planning, and I can still get a hot, tasty, comforting meal on the table for my family.

The best part is that

Life feels busier than when I was a child. Growing up, dinner time was always important at my parents’ house. It was rare that we had an activity that conflicted with dinner and evenings around the table were our norm.

As my children

get older, I realize the importance of family time and hope my children have the same fond memories of family mealtime as I do

Cooking chicken and Instant Pot sauce or any of our favorite weekday Easy Instant Pot dinners takes a lot of stress away from me and gives me the opportunity to struggle to hold on to a few more precious moments with my family.

How to make instant chicken and sauce

It is very easy to make this tasty chicken and sauce in the pressure cooker

Ingredients you’ll need

  • Boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • Low-sodium chicken broth
  • Chicken sauce mix
  • Black pepper
  • Garlic powder
  • Homemade chicken soup cream

How to do it:

(The full printable recipe is available below)

Add chicken. First, you will cut each chicken breast in half and place it in the Instant Pot along with the chicken broth.

Cook the chicken. Next, sprinkle the packets of sauce, black pepper and garlic powder over the chicken breasts, but don’t stir (I don’t stir it because I don’t want to risk having the thickener in the sauce packet to thicken the liquid and cause burns to the bottom of the pot during cooking).

Close the instant cooker and cook under high pressure for 6 minutes followed by a natural pressure release

Shred the chicken. Next, you will remove the chicken to a cutting board to crumble, slice or chop it leaving some larger pieces. Add the chicken soup cream, stirring until everything is well combined, then return the chicken to the pot.

serve. Finally, you will serve the chicken and sauce on Instant Pot mashed potatoes, Instant Pot white rice, cookies or noodles.

Notes and adaptations:

I use

  • low-sodium chicken broth in this easy chicken and sauce recipe because the sauce packets have a good bit of salt
  • .

  • I highly recommend using homemade chicken soup cream, because it adds wonderful flavor, but you can certainly use the canned variety if you prefer. Simply use 1 can of condensed cream of chicken soup plus a can of water.
  • You can change the flavor a bit by using a package of chicken sauce mix and a package of ranchero dressing mix.
