The Best Ham Sandwich You’ll Ever Eat – Barefeet In The Kitchen
Creamy goat cheese, spicy jam, salty ham and spicy arugula combine in the best ham sandwich you’ve ever eaten.
Packed with delicious fillings, this is no ordinary ham sandwich recipe. I usually stack the fillings in a long French baguette and then cut it into small finger sandwiches. Regardless of how you do this, it won’t last long.

ham sandwich for holiday gatherings, family movie nights, easy lunches, and snacks throughout the year. We’ve made this amazing sandwich
so many times over the years, I wanted to share it again, to make sure you’ll have the recipe fresh in his memory and on the tip of his hand when he has ham scraps in the house after Thanksgiving and Christmas this year.
While
visiting Sioux Falls with The National Pork Board a few years ago, Chef Neel built a similar sandwich and called it the “best ham sandwich.”
This post was originally sponsored by The National Pork Board and this ham sandwich recipe was inspired by that trip to Sioux Falls, South Dakota a few years ago.
While I expected the sandwich to be tasty, I’m reluctant to label something “best” of its kind. I took a bite and was sold. This was, in fact, the cream of the delicatessen ham sandwich harvest.
The creamy goat cheese and salted ham are a perfect combination. A spoonful of hot pepper jam took everything to sigh-worthy heights.
I
knew right away that I would be making my own version of that sandwich after returning home again. The recipe I’m sharing with you today is one you’re going to want to make over and over again.
To make this ham sandwich, I followed Chef Neel’s lead and started with a fresh French baguette. I picked mine up from the bakery section at my local supermarket, but I’m sure a homemade baguette would taste fabulous too.
After cutting the bread in half lengthwise, spread each side with a thick layer of beaten goat cheese. Arugula and thin slices of delicatessen ham are then stacked.
The sandwich
is completed with a tablespoon of hot pepper jelly with spoon on top. The sandwich
of a baguette can be cut into sections to feed four people for a lunch. This is also the perfect party sandwich. Cut it into eight sections to serve as an appetizer.
Amazing
ham
sandwich
My family can never get enough party meals and snack ideas, so this sandwich is perfect for us. I have done it many times and my children keep asking for “the elegant ham sandwich”.
You can do this on classic French bread, on a baguette, on hoagie rolls, on toast or on whole wheat bread, the possibilities are endless here.
Make the sandwich as filling or as light as you want by simply adjusting the amounts of each ingredient. When I’m making these sandwiches for a quick dinner, I stack them with lots of slices of ham.
As an appetizer or party snack, I’ll be a little lighter on meat. I love how adaptable this recipe is for any occasion.
Keep in mind that you might sigh when you bite into this sweet and savory sandwich. If you’re a ham lover (or even if you’re not!) this sandwich really deserves the name “Best Ham Sandwich You’ll Ever Eat!”
The creamy goat cheese and hot pepper jam add up to make this the best ham sandwich recipe. As a party meal or an easy lunch or dinner, this sandwich is always a hit.
I
almost can’t believe I’m so excited about a ham sandwich, but I promise it’s worth the hype. Right now, I admit I’m pretty convinced to make these sandwiches almost as often as I can.

There’s nothing like ham balls served alone or in a stir-fry of sweet and sour ham balls. (Skeptical? I promise you that once you try the ham ball stir-fry, you’ll be a fan too!)
The ham and
cheese waffles (to take away or drizzle with syrup on the table) and the pan of ham and vegetable paste are frequently requested by my children.
Ham and cheese biscuits and slow-cooked potato ham soup never disappoint. Serve the cookies with the soup for a real pleasure!
