Easy Slow Cooker Orange Chicken – Sweet Little Bluebird

amazing slow cooker orange shortcut recipe is ridiculously simple to make! The chicken is topped with the tastiest sweet and spicy orange sauce, cooked slowly to tender perfection. It takes a few minutes to put together, letting your kitchen do most of the work. Serve chicken and sauce over rice with your favorite vegetables. A meal that the whole family will love, including the most demanding diners!
What you need to make
slow-cooking chicken breasts without orange peel,
Smucker’s sweet orange jam, Sweet Baby Ray barbecue sauce, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, ground ginger and cornstarch
How to make a slow cooker
of chicken
with nonstick cooking spray Place the chicken evenly in the bottom of the kitchen.
In a medium-sized bowl, mix orange jam, BBQ sauce, soy sauce, vinegar and ginger, mix well. Pour over the chicken and mix well, covering evenly. Cook over high heat for 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
30 minutes before the chicken is ready to serve, in a small bowl mix the cornstarch and water, mixing well (without lumps), add to the chicken and sauce in the pot, mix well. Cover and continue cooking for an additional 30 minutes.
When ready, serve the chicken and sauce over the rice. Great topped with a few hints of sesame seeds. Enjoy!

Tips
- * Cooking times will vary depending on your slow cooker/clay pot. Adjust cooking times accordingly. Some slow cookers can take 3 to 4 hours at HIGH and 4 to 6 hours at LOW. The chicken must reach a safe temperature of 165°F before serving.
- Add the cornstarch mixture 30 minutes before the chicken is ready to serve.
- Fresh chicken breasts are best for this recipe versus frozen bags of chicken – fresh chicken produces less juice/liquid while cooking.
- Sesame seeds sprinkled on top are a great addition.
- Add some extra heat and flavor with a pinch of crushed red pepper or cayenne pepper for a tasty sweet and spicy kick.
- I have only used Smucker’s Sweet Marmalade and Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce and highly recommend using them for this recipe.
