Leftover ham crockpot recipe

Yes, you can buy a bag of already diced meat at the store and do this in February as well. Either way, it’s a super easy cheap Crockpot meal, even your kids will go crazy. Hosting a Christmas brunch this year? This makes a fantastic side dish or a main meal from a pot.

7 ingredients is all you need. Do you need it to contain no dairy? No problem, just leave out the cheese. We’re big cheesy gooey lovers around here, so we packed it into ours, but that’s optional, of course.

Let’s take a look at how simple it is to put this together.

Let’s talk a little bit about slow cooking, okay? First of all, I have a few different varieties and I love them all. Each has an occasion to be used as…

  1. This is my programmable 6-quart favorite with a locking lid, so it’s also great to take
  2. to a meal.

  3. If you just want to serve a few appetizers, you should get this one that sits next to each other
  4. .

  5. I prefer not to use coatings, but simply to sprinkle olive oil inside before adding my food for easy cleanings.

Let me give you a look at my pretty thang I recently bought. It goes with my kitchen, so I can leave it on the countertop all the time. 😉

Slow cooker leftover ham recipe

Whether you initially made a Crockpot ham or a Ninja Foodi ham or bought some pre-cooked ham at the store, it doesn’t really matter. Everyone is likely to be cold. You’ll want what you have to be cut into small pieces so it can really absorb the goodness in which it’s cooked.

It is truly our family’s favorite leftover ham recipe. I always have a bag like this after the holidays. If you know me, you know that I hate wasting food of any kind, especially if it’s delicious. There are tons of things you can do with it once it’s well cut. I mean that all year round you can buy it already diced, but the day after Easter we do this.

Simply cut these small slices and then you will have your meat to add to this dish. If you had a frosting left over, pour some of that on top and mix to liven it up and add some moisture and flavor. When we make our pineapple icing, it adds just a touch of sweetness, which is a fantastic complement. Now let’s continue with the rest….

Crockpot Scalloped Potatoes and Ham

Adding more cheese(s) to this would make it more like scalloped potatoes but with meat. Another great Thanksgiving idea so you don’t have another dish to try and fit in the oven. You can make it as is, but 30 minutes before the cooking time is complete, add 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese to the top.

Put the lid back on so it can melt everywhere and then serve it that way. A great way to do it, especially if people are going to eat all day. When you’re done, turn it to warm it up. This won’t really cook too much, the only thing that will happen with more time is that the taters will become softer, but who cares about that, right?

If this is your plan, you could cut your pieces a little thicker so that they break down more slowly. Do you need it to cook faster? Do the opposite and cut them into slices and then quarters.

ham green beans and potatoes

You could also add vegetables to this mixture. He washed, cut the ends and cut them in half. Then add your green beans on top of the potatoes and follow the same recipe below.

They are firm enough to withstand the heat and will get tender to perfection when serving. Here’s what you’re going to need:

  1. Russet potatoes, sliced red ones
    1. are firmer, Yukon Gold will decompose faster and be much smoother
  2. Precooked diced ham
  3. Broth of

  4. choice
  5. Onion
  6. Grated cheese, Swiss was used this time
  7. Potato condensed soup cream or mushroom soup cream will also work
  8. Milk mud pot
  9. ,

  10. Of course, 8 quarts is the best

Salt and pepper were the condiments used, but garlic powder would also be pretty good.

Which potatoes go with ham?

You can use whatever you want, but there is a big difference between them. You’re probably more familiar with Russets, the big brown guy. They are great for baking as well.

Red potatoes are much firmer and may take a little longer, but they will leave more texture to the dish and almost will not decompose at all. Others are not my favorites as they soften.

Can you put raw potatoes in a slow cooker?

Absolutely. We use them all the time this way, low and slow is a great way to cook them. Slow-cook baked potatoes are also another fantastic option. These potatoes and onions with cheese absorb all the sticky sauce that is simmering hour after hour. It’s a great recipe that costs almost nothing and is pure comfort food.

The alternatives you can make; the seasonings are obviously up to you and can be changed as you wish and some substitute a block of cream cheese instead of the soup. If you do this, cut it into smaller pieces and follow the rest as directed.

  • Place the broth of your choice at the bottom of the pot. Then place your sliced potatoes, diced ham, onions and grated cheese on top. Sprinkle salt and black pepper on top.
  • In a small bowl, whisk the soup and milk until smooth. Pour this on top of everything. Cover and simmer for 6-7 hours until potatoes are tender.

When you’re done, use a serving spoon to gently fold everything together. It will be smooth, so unless you want to break it and make it soft, do it gently. Do you want it more like a soup? Then add a little more time and stir it well so that it is as smooth as you would like it to be.

As I mentioned before, you can print the recipe below and have it handy. Nutrition information is also listed and calculated using the recipe card itself. It can vary depending on the type of potatoes and the fat content of your meat, so keep that in mind.

When everyone has eaten everything they are going to that day, turn off your pot. Let the contents cool and reach room temperature if you are going to store the rest. I will tell you that this saves wonderfully and reheats very well for lunch the next day. That’s right, you can basically get a second life from your once leftover ham.

Once it cools, transfer it to airtight containers. I like to add only what I would warm up for myself to make things easier.

  • You can use small freezer bags to do the same as well. When you heat again, pour what you want to eat into a microwave-safe container. Heat for about 1 minute stirring half that time.

Do you want it even oooeyer? Cover the top with shredded cheddar cheese so that it melts as well. My God, it’s fabulous let me tell you. It’s much better than eating sandwiches for dinner night after night because you just can’t stand throwing away the leftover meat.

Ham and potato crockpot recipeHere’s

a question some have asked in the past that we need to address. Depending on the type you choose, it’s hard to tell……

Now, this is just one of the many Crockpot recipes with leftover ham that we have made, others are below. You can read this entire summary if you want a whole week of ideas.

Creamy Ham and Potato Casserole

What if you want to do this but with less preparation, I have an idea! You can use a bag of already crushed frozen hashbrowns if you wish. I know, game changer. Keep in mind that this will only take about 3 hours to cook this way and will be much milder than this version. However, it is still totally delicious.

I’ve done this, but I did it more like a soup and it was murderous. Add a few pieces of bacon and it will be a bowl of Oh My Goodness on your table. If you want to try that version follow our recipe for Crockpot potato soup with frozen hashbrowns here. Do you have more leftovers to use? Put them in lentil soup with ham.

Crockpot Potato cheese Soup

Hash browns frozen in cubes will hold up a little better for texture and, of course, crushed ones will become quite smooth. I wouldn’t even need an emersion blender for those. Ingredients you can enjoy for any of these include: a tablespoon of sour cream, diced chives bring some color, and you can never have enough cheese.

If you’re looking for more holiday side dishes to serve with your main course, we have plenty to choose from. I’ll usually make as many slow cookers as I have and then make a couple in the oven as well that don’t take long. If you prepare them in advance, you can throw them in the oven while your protein rests.

Most take about 30 minutes, so usually everything is done at the same time if you do it this way. That way, the two made this way will surely stay warm with the lids on and the others can be covered with aluminum foil when they are ready. Throw yourself when the size is complete and whammo, dinner is served for everyone.
