Easy slow cooker ham in coke – Cook Simply

If there’s one dish that always gets the nod from every member of my family, it’s this slow-cooked ham at Coca-Cola. I don’t always expect a special occasion like Christmas or a Sunday family lunch; Sometimes, I like to do this so we can have it with egg and chips, and use leftover slow-cooker ham for sandwiches. And the best part? This doesn’t take time and you don’t have to do any preparation, well, not much.
What ingredients are
needed?
You don’t need many ingredients for this slow cooking ham recipe, however, apart from choosing a good gammon restaurant, you need cola with all the fat, no of that diet, no sugar, as it will not impart its sweetness in the ham. Coca-Cola creates a sweet and salty taste while keeping the gammon joint moist and tender.

How to slowly cook this articulated ham?
That’s the beauty of using a slow cooker. The slow-cooker ham in Coca-Cola is simply a case of throwing away the vegetables, cinnamon stick, peppercorns and cola, then covering and cooking over medium-high heat for 5 hours. If you prefer to simmer, I suggest you need between 7 and 8 hours; You may want to check it from time to time, as you need the gammon joint to retain its shape for roasting and cutting later. Too long in the slow cooker, the meat will be too tender and crumble.
After carefully removing the gammon from the slow cooker [you may need to drain the entire tail first], it’s time to spread the mustard icing with honey on the meat. But first, you need to remove the hard skin over the fat. Using a sharp knife, you will find that it will easily peel off. After brushing the frosting, roast the ham in a preheated oven to 200c for 15 minutes. Then add the rest of the frosting and continue roasting for another 30 minutes.
Can you cook this gammon without a slow cooker?
Yes, absolutely. It’s exactly the same method, but instead of using the slow cooker, use a large pan with a lid. Because you are heating on the countertop, you will need to bring the glue to a gentle boil, then turn over low heat and simmer for about 2-3 hours with the lid on, adding more water as the liquid begins to evaporate. Then follow the recipe in the same way, finishing the ham in the oven.
What to serve with this ham
This gammon glazed with honey and mustard is perfect for Christmas, along with all the decorations. And if I have leftovers, they go on sandwiches or in my leftover Christmas soup. It’s also fabulous as a Sunday roast along with these potatoes with cheese. It is also perfect to entertain you if you come family or friends. Because it’s so easy, and there’s not much to do, you can focus on having fun. Sometimes, though, I love eating this slow-cooking ham with fried eggs and chips. It is one of the favorites in this home.
