what is xolair?
xolair is a prescription medicine used to treat severe allergic asthma in adults and children 6 years of age and older. It is prescribed when asthma is persistent and does not improve after treatment with corticosteroids. xolair is taken by injecting it under the skin. You can buy it as a powder that needs to be mixed into a solution before you inject it, or in single-dose prefilled syringes.
The medication may also be used to treat an allergic skin condition called chronic spontaneous urticaria, more commonly called hives. it may be prescribed to adults and children over 12 years of age for this condition.
