Why?
Because all my favorite dinner recipes that were easy to make were slow cooker recipes! And now I can speed up cooking time by turning them into instant cooker recipes!
But what are those instant cooker times compared to cooker times?

In its basic, the slow cooker is easier to guess because the answer is always … A really long time. Pot’s instant cooking times are super fast… In many cases, the instant cooking time of the pot is so fast that you wouldn’t have guessed it correctly.
For example, roast beef takes 15 minutes per pound in the Instant Pot and 8-10 hours in the slow cooker. That’s a big difference in cooking times between the instant cooker and slow cooker conversion.

into instant cooker times
The cooking time difference between clay pots and instant pots is one ton! As you can see from the conversion chart, while the cooking time of the fish in the slow cooker is pretty fast (for a slow cooker) to 1-2 hours over low heat, that same fish fillet is only 5 minutes in an instant cooker.
White rice is similar with 1 1/2-2 hours in the slow cooker and only 5 minutes in the instant cooker.
1. Conversion from slow cooker to instant soup
If the soup recipe requires 8 hours in a slow cooker over low heat, then it should be cooked completely in an instant pot in less than 30 minutes. This also applies to stews. It’s a huge time saver!
2. Compare slow cooker with
instant cooker time
The instant cooker works well for me because I have a hard time planning ahead! It allows me to start dinner at 4pm and still be fine. The slow cooker can be a problem when you don’t even think about starting it until noon!
I think the slow cooker makes the meat more tender. So while I’ll usually choose speed, when it comes to a roast, I prefer the slow cooker.
3. How to Slowly Cook Chicken in an Instant Pot There’s really no way

The slowest time is a whole chicken which translates to 6 minutes per pound. That same chicken would take 6 to 8 hours in a slow cooker.

Use your Instant Pot slow cooker with slow adjustment
Yes! Most likely, your instant cooker has a slow cooker setting that allows you to use the LOW or SLOW COOKER instant cooker setting and saves you from having to decide the instant pot versus the clay pot for kitchen counter space.
How to use slow cooker settings in Instant Pot If your Instant Cooker has a slow cooker setting, it can be used with traditional slow cooker

If you constantly need a slow cooker
, it’s probably best to have a separate slow cooker than always using your instant slow cooker setup. I found this really interesting from Sarah DiGregorio:
