INSTRUCTIONS

The first step in making maple glazed salmon is to prepare the salmon fillets. The amount of work you need to do depends on whether your fillets are skinless and whether they are cut into individual sections.

If you bought a large and unique salmon fillet, you will most likely need to remove the skin from the bottom. Although it’s easy to make yourself, if you’re buying it from a butcher’s box, you can ask them to remove your skin.

However, if you already have your steak and need to remove the skin, don’t worry. It’s super easy to make!

How to remove the skin from salmon fillets

Start with a sharp boneless knife. Then, starting at the thickest part of the fillet, slowly insert the edge of the knife under the skin.

Now use your non-dominant hand to pull the skin up as it loosens. Once you can grasp enough skin, slowly pull back, sliding the knife into the bottom of the skin.

Once you have removed the skin, cut the salmon into 4 equal sections. You won’t need to do this if you bought individual steaks.

Now that the skin is removed and the fillets are cut, it’s time to make this maple glazed salmon recipe

.

Start by drying salmon fillets with a paper towel to remove any excess moisture. Then season both sides of each of the steaks with salt and pepper to taste, then set them aside.

Then, in a small bowl, mix the pure maple syrup, soy sauce and chopped garlic and stir until well combined. It is highly recommended that you use pure maple syrup for this recipe.

Use pure maple syrup

Not only does the taste make a big difference, but pure maple syrup is also thinner than store-bought processed breakfast syrup. Not to mention, there are no additives that change the taste or texture of maple glazed salmon during the cooking process.

Once you have the syrup and soy sauce mixed, set it aside. Then add 1/4 cup of flour on a shallow plate or bowl.

Working with one fillet at a time, dredge both sides of the salmon into flour, shaking off any excess flour, set aside

.

Now heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat and add the extra virgin olive oil. While the pan heats up, use a pastry brush to generously brush the front side of the skin of each salmon fillet with the icing.

When the oil

is hot, place the glazed side of the salmon fillets in the hot oil. Then brush the top of the fillets with the remaining enamel.

Cooking time

Cook the salmon on the first side for 3-4 minutes. Flip when the thicker side of the salmon is half cooked.

You will notice the color change on the side of the salmon as it cooks. Once the salmon is turned, continue cooking the second side for another 3-4 minutes until the salmon is cooked and light and flaky.

Remove the salmon from the pan and

sprinkle the remaining frosting on the pan on top before serving

.

Finally, cut the lime in half and use one half to squeeze the fresh lemon juice over the top of the maple glazed salmon fillets. Then cut the remaining half into 4 segments and serve with the salmon as a garnish.
