I have quite a few instant ground beef recipes here on the blog, from this instant pot taco beef to instant pot careless joes and this super easy instant pot Korean beef. The king of them all is my instant meatloaf and mashed potatoes. 2 in 1 recipe that is guaranteed to surprise the whole family.

These instant dumplings are an addition to my ground beef repertoire and believe me it’s not going to be the last as I have so much more where it came from. After making this homemade recipe for dumplings with tomato sauce, I told myself I would never make it any other way.

This recipe literally takes about 10 minutes to prepare and you don’t have to brown or bake the dumplings before cooking. So yes, it’s more like a dump instant pot recipe and the best instant dumpling recipe out there. Okay, let’s get to it.


Ground beef

: You can also go half and half but using half ground beef, half ground pork. You can even use ground turkey or Passata chicken

Breadcrumbs: can be substituted with 2 white slices without rind, this acts as a binding ingredient for meatballs Parmesan


Egg milk

Beef broth cube: I used OXO, you can use any brand of choice

Dried parsley

Grated onion: When making meatballs, I prefer to grate my onions instead of cutting them, that way the meatball keeps its shape and the onions are also well cooked.

Brown sugar

: substitute with Worcestershire sauce

Herb de Provence: substitute with mixed herbs or Italian seasonings

Smoked paprika

Black pepper

Make the meatballs: To a large bowl, add ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated onions, Parmesan cheese, dried parsley, salt, black pepper and beat an egg. Put your hands there and mix to combine. Do not mix too much so that the meatballs do not come out hard.

Remove and roll the meat mixture in the palms of your hands in small portions to form a ball. You should get between 12 to 15 meatballs. To facilitate the work and for equal sizes of meatballs, use a tablespoon of medium-sized cookies.

Prepare the meatball sauce: Turn on your instant pot, select the stir-fry button and set it to normal. Add olive oil, passata, Provence herb, brown sugar, meat broth and mix to combine. Sprinkle smoked paprika and salt in sauce, do not stir.

Add the meatballs to the sauce, do not stir. Lock the IP cap securely and turn the valve to the sealing position. Select the manual or high-pressure cook, then time for 6 minutes.

The timer would beep once you have finished cooking, let the pressure cooker release naturally for 5 minutes, and then make a quick release carefully


Carefully stir the meatballs and sauce to match. Serve with pasta, rice or as an appetizer with homemade garlic bread.

to the sauce and reduce the added salt to the

  • Make these instant sauce-free dumplings easy by omitting tomato sauce. Instead of cooking the dumplings directly on the IP with the sauce, add 1 cup of beef broth to the pot and place the dumplings in a trivet. The meatballs won’t crunch like you would if you baked or pan-fried them, just finish them on the grill or roast for a few minutes.
