Creamy Slow Cooker Potato Soup
This hearty slow-cooking potato soup is a delicious recipe perfect on a cold winter day.
For such a simple soup, you’ll find it incredibly rewarding. It looks and tastes great, and it’s certainly a dish I like to cook often.
It’s very easy to overdo it with this creamy potato soup with cheese, as it’s so delicious. I love dipping some fresh bread into the soup as it’s incredibly addictive.
Changes you can make to soup
Some other additional ingredients go great with this soup. For example, I love eating some crispy bacon and some extra cheese with the soup. You should try, it’s amazing.
You can play with cheese to get different flavors. You can replace some cheddar cheese with blue cheese for a radically different flavor profile.
Sour cream can be replaced with only regular cream. You’ll get a slightly different texture and taste, but still taste great. It’s the perfect alteration if you don’t like sour cream.
As I mentioned in the cooking tips further down the page, you don’t have to bombard the whole soup. If you like thick soup, then bombard about a quarter, so that the liquid thickens slightly.
As
I mentioned earlier, there are many different side dishes that go great with potato soup. My favorite is dipping a freshly baked bread in the soup.
The salad is always an excellent accompaniment to accompany a slow cooker soup. There are so many different types, so feel free to experiment, most will pair nicely with soup.
Something like
breadsticks or even puff pastry cheese sticks will also dip nicely into this soup. I highly recommend trying it as they usually taste delicious.
If you are looking for a dessert to eat after the soup, then I recommend rice pudding. It’s the perfect complimentary homemade meal.
How long does potato soup last
? Leftovers should be kept in the refrigerator for at least three days and possibly up to a week. However, I recommend freezing it if you don’t plan to use it within a couple of days.
Leftovers are definitely worth keeping as they are a great easy lunch the next day. Just keep it covered and store it in the fridge until you need it.

Alternatively, if you fancy something less soupy, then potatoes with cheese are worth trying. They have delicious amounts of crispy bacon and look as good as they taste. I highly recommend trying it.
