I’ve been making this slow cooker chicken and noodle recipe for years. And, by far, it’s the most popular recipe at any meal I attend.
In fact, every time I do this and take it to an event, I never have leftovers to take home

And because this is the holiday season, shared meals, and holiday meals, I thought it would be the perfect time to share the recipe

Growing Up in the Midwest Chicken and noodles were consumed quite frequently and were considered a comfort food. And it is often served in any hometown, family restaurant.
No, I’m not talking about chicken soup and noodles. Although that was the soup of choice in the winter months when it was growing up, this recipe is quite different.
Chicken and Slow Cooker noodles are made just as they sound. Cooked noodles with pieces of shredded chicken scattered everywhere.
No vegetables or broth to drink with a spoon. And you can serve it as a main course or as a side dish. The choice is up to you!

So how to make this addictive

It’s actually pretty easy

The first step in making this recipe is to cook your chicken along with the chicken soup cream, spices and butter
.
You can use chicken breast or thighs for this recipe. And although the recipe calls for boneless, skinless chicken, you can certainly use chicken that still has the bone and skin.
However, it may be necessary to increase the initial cooking time for the chicken to ensure that it is well cooked
.
All slow cookers cook at different speeds. But for us it took about 5 hours for our 6-quart Crock Pot programmable slow cooker to cook boneless, skinless chicken breasts.
Once the chicken is cooked, it’s time to crush the meat. Carefully remove the chicken pieces and crumble with two forks.
Meat should be easily crushed. If not, put the chicken back in the slow cooker and cook in HIGH for 30 minutes to an additional hour.
Once the meat is shredded (and the bones and skin are discarded if cooked with bone in chicken), return it to the slow cooker
. Add the noodles and
cook in HIGH for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally
. Type of noodles to use I have tried this recipe
with
frozen and dried egg noodles. And while I love thick, frozen egg noodles, this recipe is best cooked with dried egg noodles.
In fact, most people prefer fine egg noodles
over wide egg noodles
.
But either would work
for this slow-cooker chicken and noodle recipe.
