Easy Instant Meat Stew Recipe
I’ve really tried harder to plan the menu and get organized. However, there are some days that it is almost dinner time and everything is still in the freezer. Please tell me you can release and I’m not alone!
My instant pot has been a lifesaver in these situations. I can get the same cuteness from a clay pot but without having to cook it all day. Didn’t he take the meat out of the freezer? Do not worry! I’ve used thawed meat and frozen meat in the instant pot and they both cook super fast.
Now, if you don’t have an instant pot yet, I have a quick and easy clay pot meat stew recipe that you’ll love, but you really need to get on board with the instant pot. I’m telling you, dinner time has changed around here.
Amazon has several instant pots here and I love mine. I have the biggest one and it’s perfect! You can also see the electric pressure cookers.
The meat is so tender that no one will believe that you cooked it so quickly! It literally cuts with a fork as if it were cooked slowly all day.
Let’s start making the meat stew pressure cooker recipe!
Ingredients
:
- Stew Meat
- Frozen Green Beans
- Carrots
- Russet Potatoes
- Onion
- Bay Leaves
- Salt Salt and pepper
- Crushed tomatoes
- Worcestershire Sauce
- Water
How to Make Instant Pot Meat Stew:
You won’t believe how easy it is to make this instant pot recipe.
First in an instant pot or electric pressure cooker place the meat of the stew and potatoes on the bottom.
Then place the green beans, onions and carrots on top of the meat and potatoes.
Next, pour the can of crushed tomatoes into the instant pot and top with the Worcestershire sauce and water. Finally season with salt and pepper.
Once all the ingredients have been added to the pressure cooker, place the lid on the instant cooker and turn the valve at the top to the sealing position. Set the time for 20 minutes at high pressure. Note: If your meat is frozen, cook it under high pressure for 25 minutes.
Let the food cook instantly and once finished, make a quick release by manually moving the cap value from the sealing position to the ventilation position.
I recommend a quick release in this recipe so that potatoes and vegetables don’t get too soft. If you use a natural release instead, carrots and potatoes will probably be too soft after cooking time.
Finally remove the bay leaf and then let the food sit for a few minutes so that the sauce thickens and then serves immediately while it is still hot.
With cooking time
and time for the instant pot to reach pressure, this delicious meat stew is ready in less than 35 minutes!
Tips for the best instant meat stew: I usually use meat from
meat stew for
this recipe as it is usually the most cost-effective. However, you can use a chuck roast or rump roast and cut it into 1-inch pieces before placing it in the pressure cooker.
Be sure to cut carrots and potatoes into large pieces, if they are cut into too small cubes, they will cook too quickly in the instant pot. I’ve also used sweet potatoes instead of Russet potatoes in this recipe and it’s delicious.
I usually don’t brown my stew meat for this beef stew recipe because I’m quite lazy in the kitchen. However, you can brown the meat of the stew in the sautéed setting with 2 teaspoons of olive oil if you prefer. Then discard the brown pieces, add the other ingredients, and switch the instant cooker to the pressure cooker setting.
Generally, I use water for this meat stew recipe since meat and other seasonings add a ton of flavor; however, you can use beef broth or add a cube of meat broth to the ingredients to add more meat flavor based on your preferences.
After the cooking time, if the meat stew is too watery, switch the instant pot to the stir-fry setting and allow the excess liquid to cook until the stew has the consistency you prefer.
