Tips and Notes
- Add some peperoncinis juice. The peperoncinis in this recipe give an exceptional flavor to pork. I like to add a few splashes of pepper jar juice to all my ingredients in the cooking pot. Peperoncinis don’t add spicy spice to their Mississippi pork roast; just a delicious salty taste.
- Serving tips: I love serving this shredded pork as a sandwich with hamburger buns or Hawaiian sliding rolls. Since shredded pork is such a versatile dish, you could even serve it over rice, as a salad, etc.
- Storage of leftovers: Any leftover Mississippi pork can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Which cut of meat works best for
Mississippi pork roast?
I have done this many times with pork loin, Boston butt or a pork shoulder roast and everything works great. If you use a fattier of meat like a Boston butt, you’ll want to discard any excess fat when you start crushing your meat.
How to Roast Mississippi Pork
in the Instant Pot
You can easily adapt this recipe to be made in the instant pot instead of the cooking pot. Add all the ingredients to your Instant Pot along with 1 cup of water. Cook under manual pressure for an hour and then let the pressure release naturally. Shred the meat and serve.
