Tasty Slow Cooker Lasagna – Liana’s Kitchen

Slow cooker recipe for lasagna

Slow cook lasagna wasn’t a meal I expected to be making. I have always done it in the oven, I doubted that the texture of the pasta was anything more than too cooked and soaked.

But I’m happy to say we’ve tried it several times and what we got was a flavorful lasagna, tender minced meat, and perfectly cooked lasagna slices!

Slow cooker

lasagna is one of those slow cooker minced meat recipes that needs a little preparation, not one dish at a time. But, once the preparation work is done, you can let the slow cooker do its job.

is to brown the minced meat with the onions in a pan.

Once the minced meat has browned, add the passata (or chopped tomatoes), crushed garlic, and some dried herbs; I tend to use a dry herb mixture, but you can use dried oregano

if you wish.

Side note: You can also use a jar of tomato lasagna sauce/bolognese sauce/pasta sauce if you find it easier.

Once all this is mixed, the first layer of ground meat can go in the slow cooker.

How many layers are in a lasagna?

The number of layers you manage to remove from your lasagna will depend on the size of your slow cooker. It doesn’t really matter how many layers you make, I like to try to get at least 3 layers if I can, but there are no hard and fast rules.

The order of the layers in a go lasagna – minced meat, lasagna leaves, white sauce. Repeat. Then, in its final layer, on top of the cheese sauce, you can sprinkle some grated cheese (parmesan, cheddar or whatever your favorite cheese is for cooking).

Side note: You can sprinkle some cheese on each last white sauce if you prefer a lasagna with cheese

What sauces should I use?

There are 2 sauces that are needed for lasagna. You can make your own or buy some jars of lasagna sauce. I tend to make my own tomato sauce for the minced meat layer, as explained above, but then I usually use a jar of lasagna white sauce or a packet.

I’ve made the sauce before, although to try this recipe, as soon as I’ve written it, I’ll post a link here.

How long does it take to cook slow-cooked lasagna?

The best time and environment to cook slow-cooked lasagna is low for 4 to 6 hours. This is the perfect time for minced meat to become really tender.
